MISSISSAUGA – The Toronto Argonauts Football Club announced today that import QB Ken Dorsey has retired from football.
Dorsey dressed in 17 regular season games last season for the Double Blue. His only action came in the club’s first pre-season contest when he completed 8 of 17 passes for 96 yards in a win over Hamilton.
Before joining the Boatmen, Dorsey played six seasons in the NFL after leaving behind a sensational career at the University of Miami. While with the Hurricanes, Dorsey made back-to-back BCS National Championship appearances, including a win over Nebraska in the 2001 game, and acquired a collection of records and awards that could fill a book. Dorsey was originally drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the seventh round of the 2003 NFL Draft. He started 11 games over three seasons with San Fran. He was later traded to Cleveland, in exchange for QB Trent Dilfer, at the beginning of the 2006 season and played primarily as a backup quarterback with four starts in 2008.
Remaining quarterbacks under contract to Toronto include: Cleo Lemon, Dalton Bell, Danny Brannagan, Matt Grothe and Steven Jyles.
