MISSISSAUGA – The Argos took to the practice field for their last two-a-day before they take on the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in pre-season action on Saturday afternoon at Rogers Centre.
Quarterbacks #1 Cleo Lemon and #12 Dalton Bell once again took the majority of the reps today. Jim Barker suggested that each one will split reps on Saturday.
#84 WR Sammy Tranks had his best workout so far in training camp, hauling in everything that was thrown his way. Two diving catches helped cement him as one of the best players on the field today.
The secondary was once again flying around, led by sophomore DB #24 Evan McCollough who had a solid day. His highlight was reading a swing pass to his side of the field and stopping the receiver five yards in the backfield.
Cornerback #25 Sean Smalls made his presence felt when he jumped a route, stepped in front of the would-be receiver and took a Bell pass for a touchdown.
Practice got heated midway through the second workout in team drills when rookie OL #62 Edawn Coughman and DT #72 Miguel Robede started a tussle. After a few jabs their teammates quickly defused the situation but the two still received a tongue lashing from Barker.
The Argos got a visit from an old friend as former receiver and Grey Cup champion Andre Talbot watched his old teammates at practice. Talbot retired from football this off-season after a solid 10-year CFL career. He told teammates about his adventures through Mexico and South America this past winter where he went sightseeing and studied Yoga – an experience which he intends to pursue in Toronto.
The Argos will walk-thru tomorrow before taking on the Ticats on Saturday. Stay linked to argonauts.ca for pre-game thoughts and analysis. For tickets, please call 416-341-ARGO (2746) or click here to order online.
