MISSISSAUGA – The Toronto Argonauts Football Club announced today that it has parted ways with Defensive Coordinator Chip Garber. Secondary Coach Orlondo Steinauer has been named the club’s new defensive coordinator.
Commented Argonauts GM & Head Coach Jim Barker, “We’ve made a decision to relieve Chip Garber of his duties as defensive coordinator. Chip is a great man and this is never an easy thing to do. This decision was not based on one game, but has been an ongoing process and evaluation over the past year and a half. I feel, moving forward, this change is in the best interest of our organization.”
Barker continued, “Orlondo Steinauer will begin immediately as our defensive coordinator. I feel Orlondo is ready for this position as he brings an in-depth knowledge of the Argo defence and his experience as a player, as well as the past year and a half as an assistant coach, will help him transition smoothly into this expanded role. He will continue to work closely with Defensive Line Coach George Dyer and Linbackers Coach Greg Quick, and will also continue to coach the secondary.”
