MISSISSAUGA – The Toronto Argonauts Football Club would like to congratulate K/P Noel Prefontaine on being named CFL Special Teams Player of the Week for his Week 12 performance in Saskatchewan on Saturday. This is the eleventh time in his career, and second time this season (Week 8), that ‘Pre’ has earned this award.
Prefontaine had a solid game for the Boatmen while making all four of his field goal attempts from 18, 41, 35 and 32 yards respectively. He also punted 7 times for 290 yards, and a clutch 60-yard single in the fourth quarter, which tied the game at 20-20, for the Argos. He even surprised the Riders’ defence on a fake punt in the first half when he completed a 39-yard pass to LB Jeremy Unertl for a first down. In all, Prefontaine was responsible for 14 of Toronto’s 20 points in the game.
The last time Argos fans witnessed the kind of consistent production put forth by Prefontaine was when all-star kicker, and 1991 Grey Cup champion, Lance Chomyc handled the club’s kicking duties. While fans can see Prefontaine and the rest of his teammates on the gridiron at Rogers Centre this Saturday, they can also help honour Chomyc and the 1991 team in a special halftime presentation. Kickoff is at 7:00 p.m.
