The Stats Sheet: Week 13

Throughout the year, argonauts.ca will take a look at some of the statistical leaders following each game and compare how they match up against both their teammates and the rest of the Canadian Football League.

DEFENSIVE TACKLES – DE Ricky Foley

 

Canadian rush end Ricky Foley continued his strong play this week, racking up 6 defensive tackles and 2 quarterback sacks as he lead a defensive line that was constantly getting after Winnipeg’s pivots.  Foley has been arguably the greatest beneficiary of Toronto’s propensity to send blitz packages at opposing quarterbacks in recent weeks.

RUSHING YARDS – Cory Boyd

 

Running back Cory Boyd had his second 100-yard game of the season versus the Bombers, rushing for 109 yards on 12 carries.  More impressive than his yardage total was his average per carry which was an impressive 9.1 as he fought for extra inches and pushed for first downs.  He failed to score a major but his 44-yard dash up the middle of the Winnipeg defence in the second quarter set up a Chad Rempel TD reception and his two first downs late in the game helped set up what would eventually be the game-winning single point from Noel Prefontaine’s missed field goal.

ALL PURPOSE YARDS  – WR/KR Chad Owens

 

He wasn’t able to break one for a touchdown but Chad Owens was still a difference maker in Toronto’s win.  The few tackles he did break and his speed along the sidelines gave the Argos great field position throughout the game and helped him retain the league lead in all-purpose yards in the process.
