TORONTO — After patiently waiting on the practice roster for the majority of the season, Sammy Tranks returned to the lineup only to suffer what may be an ACL injury.
Tranks stepped into the lineup Saturday night versus the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in place of Andre Durie who was activated but didn’t see the field.
The Seton Hill graduate got a shot in his third CFL game but seems to have ended his season after stretching out to make a tough catch along the sidelines in the second half.
After the game, Argos Head Coach and GM Jim Barker said that the unfortunate circumstances of his injury is rather reflective of the year the Boatmen have had, filled with bizarre games and tough breaks.
“We are bringing guys in, it’s just going take time for our quarterback to learn them. Then you give a guy like Sammy Tranks a shot to come off the PR and make some plays and he blows his ACL. That’s just the way it goes”, Barker said.
What is in the cards for Tranks remains to be seen as the rookie wideout still had not gone for imaging when Barker spoke to the media about his injury; however, the immediate prognosis did not look too promising.
Before Saturday’s contest, Tranks had recorded six catches for 55 yards and one touchdown in two games for Toronto.
