The Stats Sheet: Week 17

Throughout the year, argonauts.ca will take a look at some of the statistical leaders following each game and compare how they match up against both their teammates and the rest of the Canadian Football League.

DEFENSIVE TACKLES – DB Lin-J Shell

 

Defensive back Lin-J Shell is quietly working his way up the CFL defensive tackles list, sitting second among all defenders with 86.  Shell had another strong game against the Eskimos Friday, making sure open-field stops and recording 8 defensive tackles.

RUSHING YARDS – Cory Boyd

 

Despite being part of an offence that struggled for the first three quarters of the game, Cory Boyd put together another impressive performance against the Esks, racking up 132 yards on 15 carries, including a 65-yard scamper to get the Argos out of the shadow of their own goalpost.  The romp marked a new career high for the CFL sophomore.  He is now only 55 yards away from his second consecutive 1,000-yard season.

ALL PURPOSE YARDS  – WR/KR Chad Owens

 

There is not much more that can be said about Chad Owens.  His contribution both on offence and on special teams culminated with the ultimate achievement of becoming the first player in the history of pro-football to record back-to-back 3,000-yard seasons.  He is once again the runaway leader in combined yards in the CFL and a serious candidate for special teams player of the year.
