The Stats Sheet: Week 18

Throughout the year, argonauts.ca will take a look at some of the statistical leaders following each game and compare how they match up against both their teammates and the rest of the Canadian Football League.

DEFENSIVE TACKLES – DB Lin-J Shell

 

Add five more defensive tackles to Lin-J Shell’s totals on the year.  The third-year Argo had another strong game against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers Friday night and now sits just seven tackles behind Saskatchewan’s Jerrell Freeman for the league lead.

RUSHING YARDS – Cory Boyd

 

After remaining relatively quiet for the first three quarters of the game, Cory Boyd ate up yards when it counted Friday night, rushing for over 70 yards in the fourth quarter and killing precious time in the process.  No run was bigger than the 35-yard scamper to set up a game-sealing Argos field goal.  The run also put him up over 1,000 yards for the season.  Boyd finished the contest with 14 carries for 91 yards.

ALL PURPOSE YARDS  – WR/KR Chad Owens

 

There is no catching Chad Owens now for the lead in combined yards.  A week after setting a pro-football record for back-to-back 3,000-yard seasons, Owens is so far ahead of the pack that the next closest player, Larry Taylor, that Calgary’s returner sits 915 yards behind the Argos speedster in kick returns alone.
