MISSISSAUGA — The Toronto Argonauts Football Club would like to congratulate RB/SB Andre Durie on being named CFL Canadian Player of the Week for his Week 19 performance against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on November 3. This marks the third time in his career that Durie has earned a CFL player of the week award and the second time he has been named Canadian Player of the Week.
Durie had another impressive week for the Boatmen, recording career-highs with eight (8) catches for 144 yards and two touchdowns in the Argos’ 33-16 victory against the Tiger-Cats. It was also Durie’s first 100+ yards receiving game and the first multi-touchdown game in his career.
In his fifth full season in Double Blue, the Mississauga-native becomes the second Argos player to earn Canadian Player of the Week honours this season (Ricky Foley, week 13), and is also only the sixth Argos player ever to earn this particular weekly award.
Last week, in survey conducted by TSN, Durie was voted by colleagues as the league’s Most Underrated Player. He finished the season as the Argos’ second-leading receiver with 54 catches for 665 yards, 4 touchdowns, 18 carries for 106 yards, 21 kickoff returns for 440 yards and 1 missed field goal return for 31 yards. His 1,242 combined yards were second-most on the club.
