Tdsb High School Update

TDSB HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL LINK

TORONTO – The Toronto Argonauts Football Club announced the third year of a multi-faceted mentorship and funding program entitled Level The Playing Field, presented by Tim Hortons, in partnership with The Argos Foundation, the Toronto District School Board (TDSB) and the Toronto Foundation for Student Success.  Through a $10,000 donation to each school, Winston Churchill/Bendale B.T.I., SATEC at W.A. Porter C.I. and George Harvey Collegiate are each fielding a football team this fall, after many years of not having teams.  Since inception in 2009, the Level the Playing Field program has helped return football teams to a total of ten TDSB high schools.  The new high school football teams all play in the TDSB Varsity Development League.  In an effort to help build and promote high school football, the Argos will send out weekly updates on the teams in this league throughout the high school football season.

The coaches from each team in the Varsity Development League were invited to submit their team’s MVP based on both on-field and off-field performance.  Here are the team MVPs for the week ending November 4:

“Dennis ran hard all game and never quit.  I’m proud of his accomplishments this season as he has shown a lot of heart this year and this past game.  He had over 100 yards rushing and scored our only major.”

“Chris had an outstanding game receiving the football. He made several key receptions and scored an important touchdown.”

“Linton made several key tackles throughout the game, two of which resulted in turnovers.  He has a fierce determination, a keen eye for the ball, and a great ability to read the play.  Linton is a leader both on and off the field, and has motivated team members to rise to challenges before them.”
