TORONTO – The Toronto Argonauts Football Club is saddened to learn of the passing of former defensive end Doug MacIver who died Thursday at the age of 58.
MacIver played three seasons with the Argonauts from 1976-1978, playing in 48 regular season games and one playoff game. An aggressive rush end, MacIver had a memorable rookie season in Double Blue, recording a touchdown on a fumble recovery to help kick-start a solid CFL career that spanned nine seasons and included a Grey Cup which he won with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
McIver made his home in Winnipeg, where he once starred for the University of Manitoba Bisons. He went on to run a very successful car dealership in Willowdale, Ontario after his playing days.
