TORONTO — Two historic organizations with a demonstrated commitment to community involvement are joining forces to put one GTA student through university. The Rotary Club of Toronto and the Toronto Argonauts Football Club are working together to reward a Toronto District School Board or Toronto Catholic District School Board student for their academic achievement and contributions to the community through a new four-year post-secondary education scholarship.
Commented William Andras, Scholarship Co-ordinator, Rotary of Toronto, “The Rotary Club of Toronto is honoured to partner with the Toronto Argonauts to celebrate more than 100 years of serving the community by providing a scholarship for a disadvantaged youth. The scholarship will provide full tuition for a University or College undergraduate degree for a student displaying academic discipline and community involvement. Our ongoing partnership allows our two historic organizations to continue to put service above self by helping the youth of Toronto to become our leaders of the future.”
The Rotary Club of Toronto and Toronto Argonauts Community Champion Scholarship is unique in its nature in that it provides funding for the tuition of the student’s complete post-secondary career. The student will chosen by a selection committee consisting of both Rotarians and Toronto Argonauts staff and alumni. The presentation of the scholarship will be made at the Rotary’s Community Luncheon on June 1. Students wishing to apply should contact their school’s guidance department and submit their application by April 30, 2012.
