MISSISSAUGA – The Toronto Argonauts Football Club is pleased to announce that non-import OG Jeff Keeping has elected to extend his contract with the Double Blue through the 2014 season. Keeping enters his 8th season as an Argonaut and 9th in the Canadian Football League.
Commented Argonauts’ General Manager Jim Barker, “We’re very happy that Jeff has decided to extend his contract with us in Toronto and remain close to his hometown where he grew up. Jeff is a hard working, versatile and tough football player; the kind of guy we want on our team and in our locker room.”
Originally a second round draft pick (18th overall) of the Argonauts in the 2005 CFL Canadian Draft, Keeping is a veteran of 85 regular season games and five playoff games. The Uxbridge, Ontario native has been among the most versatile players on the roster during his time in Double Blue. A tight end at Western Ontario, his CFL career has seen him pressed into action at tight end, fullback, nose tackle and offensive guard. Keeping played in all 18 regular season games for the first time his career in 2011.
Commented Keeping, “I’m really excited about the direction of the team. I have confidence in new Head Coach Scott Milanovich and believe that his staff and our new players put us in position to immediately compete for a championship. Being from Uxbridge, playing in front of family and friends is an opportunity not many athletes get. Better still, this year we have an opportunity to play in the 100th Grey Cup game at home. I want to win my first ring as an Argonaut and I believe the pieces are in place to make that dream a reality.”
