MISSISSAUGA – The Toronto Argonauts Football Club is thrilled to announce that non-import OL Wayne Smith has signed with the club. Smith has signed through the 2014 season.
Commented new Argos lineman, Wayne Smith, “The opportunity to play for the Argonauts and contribute in any way I can to the success of the team is exciting. Toronto is headed in the right direction and there are a lot of great players in the locker room on both sides of the ball. Playing and living in this community is also very important to me as I have a lot of great relationships here. I’ve dedicated myself this off-season to training and after dressing in all 20 games last year I feel great and I’m ready to compete.”

Smith was the first overall pick by Hamilton in the 2004 CFL Canadian Draft, won a Grey Cup championship at Rogers Centre in 2007 and is now a veteran of seven CFL seasons. Overall, he’s played in 98 regular season games and six playoff games. Last season, he played in both pre-season games, all 18 regular season games and two playoff games for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
After beginning his career in Hamilton, Smith was traded to Saskatchewan where he won the 95th Grey Cup championship under the dome at Rogers Centre. Smith was a member of the Roughriders until 2011 when he returned to Hamilton for one more season.
