MISSISSAUGA–Another fast-paced afternoon of football saw six new sets of eyes watching the rookies. Veterans DT Kevin Huntley, DS Jordan Younger, LB Ejiro Kuale, LB Anthony Cannon, K/P Noel Prefontaine and WR/KR Chad Owens came to take a look at their potential camp mates come Sunday.
Defensive Back Javes Lewis, who had a stint in Double Blue in the fall of 2011, was involved in nearly every play during skelly, knocking down a few balls and nearly intercepting another.
For the defensive backs that happened to not be on the field during skelly, coach Chris Jones made sure that they stayed sharp mentally. On any given play, Jones would point to the sideline and the players would be required to explain everything that the offence had just done.
On offence, Julian Feoli-Gudino had another solid outing, proving that he is un-phased by the physicality of the professional game. He welcomed contact during one-on-one drills and made some tough catches in tight areas.
Another highlight of the day was the one-on-one drills between the offensive and defensive lines. Power vs. power is always interesting to watch and there was plenty for everyone. Rookie DL Armond Armstead had another excellent day on the line. The 21-year old from USC has demonstrated that he’s a pro-ready talent who is worth keeping an eye on for the duration of training camp.
Friday is the final day of Rookie Camp and the players are, once again, on the upper field at UTM from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
