MISSISSAUGA – The Toronto Argonauts Football Club is pleased to welcome CFL veteran DB Etienne Boulay and import K/P Swayze Waters (pro: SWAY-ZEE Waters). Both players are on the field at today’s practice as the team prepares for its home game against Winnipeg on Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m.
Etienne Boulay joins the Argos after a successful 6-year stint with the Montreal Alouettes that saw him win two Grey Cup Championships (2009, 2010) and be named the East Division’s Most Outstanding Rookie in 2006. A second round CFL Canadian Draft pick of the Als, Boulay attended New Hampshire University, the same school that current Argos RB Chad Kackert attended. During his CFL career, Boulay has accumulated 127 defensive tackles, 43 special teams tackles and 11 interceptions.
The only thing better than Swayze Waters’ name is his powerful leg! In this remarkable YouTube video, he can be seen blasting a 70-yard field goal during a workout. The University of Alabama at Birmingham product, who grew-up in Jackson, Mississippi, was a two year starter for the Blazers. As a senior, he converted 19 field goals and had a punting average of more than 43 yards. As a junior, he was named First-Team All-Conference USA. He most recently attended training camp with the Edmonton Eskimos and has also spent time with the Pittsburgh Steelers and Oakland Raiders, both of the NFL.
The Toronto Argonauts also announced today that K/P Noel Prefontaine has been added to the 9-game injured list.
