TORONTO – Immediately following the Opening Ceremonies for the thirtieth Olympiad in London, England, the Toronto Argonauts took on the Montreal Alouettes in a key East Division match during Friday Night Football on CFL on TSN. The nation stayed tuned as the game attracted the second-highest television audience for a sporting event in Canada over the weekend.
With 874,000 viewers combined from both TSN and RDS, the night game versus rival Alouettes was second to only the Summer Olympics’ Opening Ceremonies which attracted 6.4 million viewers through the Consortium Network. The game was also the most-watched CFL contest of 2012.
The hundreds of thousands of Canadians that tuned in were treated to a hard-hitting game full of big plays between two East rivals as Ricky Ray went head to head with fellow star quarterback Anthony Calvillo. The Argonauts emerged with a thrilling 23-20 victory in front of the 22,773 in attendance in at McGill Stadium in Montreal.
