TORONTO– Coming off two straight, heart-stopping wins decided by just three points each, and riding an offence that boasts the CFL’s leading rusher, two of the league’s top-4 leading receivers and the CFL’s second-leading quarterback, the Toronto Argonauts return home this Monday, August 6 at 5:00 p.m. for Family Day, presented by Tim Hortons.
Also powered by an undefeated home record in 2012, Argos fans have already been treated to two classic matches that have both been decided in the final seconds. The Double Blue is tied for first in the East and this week’s game should be another epic contest as the defending Grey Cup champions B.C. Lions come to town.
Internationally acclaimed, triple platinum Canadian artist, Karl Wolf, whose new album Finally Free is now available, will kickoff the evening inside the stadium by performing the national anthem. Fans should stay in their seats for halftime as he’ll be back to electrify the crowd along with the Argos Cheerleaders, presented by the Toronto Sun, at halftime. Then, 100 fans will be invited to an exclusive autograph signing with the music sensation himself during the third quarter of play.
Up and coming rock artists, SixXxer, will supercharge the pre-game tailgate party that starts at 1:00 p.m. outside Gate 11 on the holiday Monday as part of the SiriusXM Rock the Grey Cup contest, a cross-country search for Canada’s favourite emerging talent to play at the Grey Cup Festival in Toronto. Fans will again be able to purchase tall boy cans of beer for just $5 or a barbequed gourmet sausage provided by Marc Angelo Foods. Proceeds from the barbeque will support the programs of The Argos Foundation including the award-winning Huddle Up Bullying Prevention Program presented by Tim Hortons. During the game, the Argonauts will continue to demonstrate their commitment to bullying prevention and local youth by recognizing one student as its Huddle Up Student of the Game, presented by Tim Hortons.
The ceremonial opening kickoff will be performed by a special guest athlete who will compete in the Rogers Cup, which kicks off at York University this weekend, and 10-year old singer Sara, from Motion Device, will warm-up the crowd at halftime just before Wolf takes the field. For this game only, special family ticket packages are available for purchase through the Argonauts’ ticket office.
