TORONTO – He’s nearly 40 years old, is less than three months out of surgery, but he’s back on the 46-man roster in time for Sunday’s home game against the Montreal Alouettes.

After being placed on the 9-game injured list in July, when he underwent hip surgery, many speculated that K/P Noel Prefontaine’s season, and maybe even career, was over.
However, in recent weeks Prefontaine was moved from the 9-game injured list to the 1-game injured list and began practicing his art once again.
This has culminated into Prefontaine being placed back on the 46-man roster for this week’s game against Montreal. It’s still not known if Prefontaine will dress on the team’s 42-man active roster and Coach Milanovich was tight lipped stating, “He was cleared a week ago. I wanted to have the ability to go to him but I’m going to sleep on it. But there is a possiblity he’ll be up.”
Though K/P Swayze Waters is still the place kicker for the Double Blue, Waters’ current hand injury limits him from fielding long snaps, an issue that resulted in LB Kyle Jones (a former kicker at Bishop’s University) handling punting duties last week against Saskatchewan.
Prefontaine’s return just three months after major hip surgery is a testament to both his work ethic and determination. He was quoted three months ago saying, “Obviously, I have one glimmer of hope and it’s getting it fixed and (we’ll see) what happens after that. Anyone who has ever been through any surgery knows it is not a guarantee. I am not going to feel like a new person when I come out of this thing but the bottom line is the injury is going to be fixed and then I will just take it from there.”
Obviously, that glimmer of hope is getting brighter – welcome back “Pre.”
