Argos Swayze Waters Named Cfl Special Teams Player Of The Week!

ARGONAUTS.CA STAFF

TORONTO – While riding a two-game winning streak into the 100th Grey Cup Playoffs, the Toronto Argonauts have one more reason to celebrate! K Swayze Waters, the man who made the game-winning kick in last Thursday’s win over Hamilton, has been named CFL Special Teams Player of the Week for the first time in his career.

Waters had his best game statistically as a member of the Argos. He was a perfect five-for-five on field goal attempts including the game-winner from 51 yards.  That was Waters’ first last second, game winning kick of the 2012 season and sent the Argos into the playoffs on the right “foot”.

On the night, Waters hit field goals of 36, 19, 32, 41 and 51 yards, totalling 19 of the team’s 43 points, including converts. His 51-yarder was good for the second longest field goal made in the CFL this season, and the longest of his CFL career.

Waters also handled kickoff duties against the Ticats and, with his strong performance in Week 19, finished the season ranked first in the CFL in average yards per kickoff at 67.6.  He totalled 53 kickoffs with a net of 3,582 yards in 2012.

The Double Blue will host their first home playoff game since 2007, the Eastern Semi-Final, on Sunday, November 11, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. Tickets are available now by calling (416) 341-ARGO (2746) or by  CLICKING HERE.
