WR/KR Chad Owens set an Argos playoff record on Sunday as he totalled 207 yards receiving on eleven (11) receptions.  Owens was dynamic every time he touched the ball for the Boatmen and no play was bigger for the offence than his 70 yard catch and run to the two (2) yard line that eventually set up a go-ahead score for the Argos’ first lead of the game.  On the drive, Owens accounted for 97 of the 101 yards the Argonauts’ offence accumulated.  He also added 118 yards on kick returns for an average of 23.6 yards and 21 yards on punt returns for a total of 346 all-purpose yards.  This is Owens’ third Player of the Week (Offence – Week 10; Special Teams – Eastern Semi-Final). This is Owens’ tenth Player of the Week honour of his career.

LB Marcus Ball, continued his hot play on defence as he showed up on the big stage yet again and set the tone for the unit.  Ball had a huge game totalling five (5) tackles and turned the tide of the game by adding two interceptions.  No play was more momentous for the defence than Ball’s second interception; the Argos had just turned the ball over on offence and the Als were driving in Argos territory. The ball-hawking rookie swooped in and picked off Calvillo for his second INT of the game and put control back in the hands of the Double Blue.  It was that kind of play that led Ball to be named the Argos’ nominee for outstanding defensive player. This is Ball’s first CFL Defensive Player of the Week nod.

East Division Outstanding Player and All-Star, WR/KR Chad Owens will be at the 2012 Gibson’s Finest CFL Player Awards on Thursday, November 22 at Koerner Hall in downtown Toronto.  Tickets for the show are available by emailing events@100thgreycupfestival.ca or by calling (416) 341-ARGO.  Awards show tickets also provide access to the TELUS Players Party at the MTCC which features performances by some of the hottest names in Canadian music including K’naan, Kardinal Offishall, Mia Martina and Kreesha Turner.
