Commented Argonauts Executive Chairman & CEO, Chris Rudge, “As we enter our 140th season, we are pleased to bring our fans a balanced schedule with prime time weeknight matchups and an emphasis on Thursday and Friday night football. It is extremely fitting that, on the heels of our 100th Grey Cup victory, we will host our home pre-season game at Varsity Stadium, a venue that has a history and tradition in this city comparable to our own. We invite Double Blue fans to fill Rogers Centre and share in a 100th Grey Cup Championship celebration at our regular season home opener, and be ready for exciting, competitive football all season long as we strive to defend our title.”

The Argonauts kickoff pre-season in historic fashion when, for the first time in 55 years, a CFL football game will be played at the hallowed grounds of Varsity Stadium in downtown Toronto. For one game only, Argos fans will conjure up memories of greats like Joe “King” Krol, Les Ascott and Ulysses “Crazy Legs” Curtis at the place that hosted 30 Grey Cup championships, including nine Toronto Grey Cup wins.

Then, led by reigning CFL Coach of the Year Scott Milanovich, the Argonauts will move back to Rogers Centre and open the regular season at home. Mark Friday, June 28 in the calendar as the club’s 2013 Home Opener sees the team host their storied rival Hamilton Tiger-Cats. Fans will want to be in their seats early for a special 100th Grey Cup Championship celebration which will include a ring presentation, a banner raising ceremony and much, much more!

While the Argonauts will enjoy balance throughout the season with home games played at regular intervals throughout the summer and the late fall, Argos faithful will circle Friday, August 23 on their calendars as Toronto welcomes back the Calgary Stampeders in a 100th Grey Cup rematch. The Double Blue will then go PINK in an effort to raise awareness about women’s cancers on Thursday, October 24 against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
