ARGONAUTS.CA STAFF

TORONTO – The 100th Grey Cup champions know that part of being your best is leading a healthy lifestyle and committing to physical fitness. The Toronto Argonauts, through Argo-Cise Recess, presented by GoodLife Fitness, have invited students from around the GTA to join them in taking a winning approach to improving their overall health, wellness and fitness!

In its sixth season, Argos players, Argos Cheerleaders, Jason the Mascot, Argos staff and GoodLife Fitness Personal Trainers will lead the way with fun and engaging programming as elementary and middle school students from around the GTA are educated on the importance of physical activity and healthy nutrition.

Argo-Cise begins with a school assembly and pep rally and continues with an extended 30 minute recess, engaging youth in football, sport and physical activity through a unique recess experience. Argos players and cheerleaders will interact with the students through an organized circuit of fitness activities and provide the opportunity to achieve their daily physical activity requirement.

This year, the Argonauts are issuing an Argo-Cise Recess Media Challenge! Members of the media can test their own fitness levels following each recess. Media who are up to the challenge will take the field as soon as the student session is over. They will be put through a series of fitness and football tests to find out if they measure up.

The Argo-Cise program is one of three core in-school programs that the Toronto Argonauts bring to GTA schools.  Along with the club’s award winning, internationally recognized Huddle Up Bullying Prevention program, presented by Tim Hortons, and Level the Playing Field, presented by Tim Hortons, the Argos demonstrate a continued commitment to the emotional, mental and physical health of Toronto students.  Thousands of GTA youth will participate in an Argo-Cise Recess this month and will learn exercises that can be used in their daily lives including yoga, calisthenics, football drills and pre-game warm ups/stretching . Following the stops, students and teachers can will be able to access healthy living tips and interactive videos via argonauts.ca for future use in their schools.
