Qb Ricky Ray Named Cfl Offensive Player Of The Week

TORONTO – On an evening that saw the 100th Grey Cup championship banner unveiled at Rogers Centre, Argos QB Ricky Ray looked like he had not missed a single beat since November 25, 2012. For his efforts, he was named CFL Offensive Player of the Week for Week 1.

Ray led his teammates to a thrilling come-from-behind victory against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats by throwing for a league-high 368 yards and 4 touchdowns. Ray also finished the day with a CFL-best 70.6% completion rate, and showed poise in the pocket by spreading the ball around to six different receivers. In Ray’s last five meaningful games (including the second-to-last regular season game of 2012 and the entire 2012 post-season), he has thrown for an impressive 1,545 yards and 13 touchdowns with a 72.6% completion rate (117 of 161).

This is the second time Ray has been named the Offensive Player of the Week as an Argonaut (2012 – Week 17), and the sixth time since 2008. 

Ray and his teammates travel west to take on the BC Lions on Thursday July 4, 2013at 10:00pm ET at BC Place Stadium, before returning home on Thursday, July 11, 2013 to take on the Saskatchewan Roughriders for a 7:30 p.m. ET kickoff at Rogers Centre. Tickets are available on Ticketmaster by CLICKING HERE.
