TORONTO – On an evening that saw the 100th Grey Cup championship banner unveiled at Rogers Centre, Argos QB Ricky Ray looked like he had not missed a single beat since November 25, 2012. For his efforts, he was named CFL Offensive Player of the Week for Week 1.
Ray led his teammates to a thrilling come-from-behind victory against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats by throwing for a league-high 368 yards and 4 touchdowns. Ray also finished the day with a CFL-best 70.6% completion rate, and showed poise in the pocket by spreading the ball around to six different receivers. In Ray’s last five meaningful games (including the second-to-last regular season game of 2012 and the entire 2012 post-season), he has thrown for an impressive 1,545 yards and 13 touchdowns with a 72.6% completion rate (117 of 161).
This is the second time Ray has been named the Offensive Player of the Week as an Argonaut (2012 – Week 17), and the sixth time since 2008.
