TORONTO – Toronto Argonauts football, presented by Desjardins, returns to Rogers Centre this Sunday, August 18 at 7:00 p.m. The first place Argos, who are riding a three-game regular season winning streak for the first time since 2010, take on the visiting Edmonton Eskimos.

Ricky “The Professor” Ray is tearing up the CFL with precision accuracy having completed 34 of his last 38 pass attempts. On the other end of The Professor’s passes have been receivers Jason “The Barber” Barnes and “The Human Torch” John Chiles who have combined for four touchdowns in two games. The CFL’s combined yards leader and leading receiver, The “Flyin’ Hawaiian” Chad Owens soared into the endzone during last week’s win in Montreal when he exploded for a 118 yard missed field goal return touchdown. The defence has held strong as it is anchored by Khalif “Colossus” Mitchell and Robert “The Hammer” McCune. Pat “The Punisher” Watkins continues to lockdown the corner and recorded his first interception of the season one week ago.
Fans who take their seats early could witness a new Guinness World Record established when 150 members of Autism Ontario willperform the national anthem in hopes of becoming the largest autistic choir to perform at a sporting event. Proceeds from the night’s 50/50 draw will also be donated to Autism Ontario. Pre-game coin toss will be performed by Conor Trainor ofCanada’s National Men’s Rugby Team and the game ball will be delivered by Miss Ontario Jaelyn Lance.
Halftime will be headlined by local rockers Stuck on Planet Earth as part of the SiriusXM Rock the Grey Cup contest. The Argonauts’ Junior Cheer program also returns for halftime. More than 70 girls ages 5-18 have been learning a dance routine from the premier cheerleading squad in the CFL and on Sunday they will get a chance to perform live on the field.
Before coming inside, fans can stop by gate 6 where TSN Radio 1050 will be setup with their new Chad Owens football toss inflatable. Meanwhile, over at gate 11, Marc Angelo Foods will again be preparing sausages for a minimum $2 donation.
The Argonauts will again celebrate their Champion of Change initiative as part of the award-winning Huddle Up Bullying Prevention Program, presented by Tim Hortons. At each home game, the Argos have committed to recognizing student champions who make a difference in their school or community through acts of kindness, tolerance, and respect for others. This game, our Champion of Change is the talented Kyra Mastrogiacomo who wrote an original bullying prevention song titled, “You Are Not Alone”.

This Sunday’s game is the first of three straight home games for the Double Blue including Sunday, August 18 vs. Edmonton, Friday, August 23 vs. Calgary and Tuesday, September 3 vs. Montreal.
