OAKVILLE – An already potent receiving corps is hoping to get one of its deep threats back.
Sophomore receiver Dontrelle Inman, who has been in and out of the lineup with an injury since Week 2, took part in his first full practice with the Argos starters Wednesday and says he is hoping he can be cleared to play this Sunday night against Edmonton.
“It was not a long time (since my first practice), but it feels good to be back with my teammates and being able to be in the offence and feeling the vibe of the team”, he told CFL.ca.

Inman started the year with a solid three reception effort in Week 1 vs. Hamilton, one of which counted as the game-winning touchdown. A five-catch, 82-yard performance versus Saskatchewan in Week 3 and the Virginia product seemed well on his way to another productive season after an impressive rookie year.
Inman, who made the 2012 Argos out of training camp caught 50 passes for 802 yards and five touchdowns in 2012 but more importantly, became a focal point of the Argos’ deep game with his speed and athleticism allowing Toronto to stretch the field and open up room underneath for the likes of Chad Owens and Andre Durie.
Argonauts head coach Scott Milanovich said that Inman has indeed made progress but could not confirm whether or not the 24-year-old will be ready to go come Sunday.
“(Dontrelle) looked pretty good. It’s hard to tell because I didn’t watch him solely but he had to stretch one out on a corner route and did fine with it and it didn’t bother him.
“If Dontrelle can’t go, our guys are coming along, really they are all playing well, and even Spencer was playing well before he got hurt. We’ve got some good depth there right now which is a good thing because I am sure we will need them all.
“We will make a decision later on how it affects others but we will try to play him.”
When Inman does return he will be joining a receiving corps that boasts tremendous depth with the emergence of John Chiles over the last three games, consistent play from Durie and Owens and the big-play threat of Jason Barnes. The Argos also have veteran Romby Bryant on their roster who could come back later in the year after suffering a set of broken ribs in the pre-season.
Inman says that versatility in the receiving corps is one of the main reasons Toronto’s offence doesn’t seem to miss a beat when someone goes down.
“Anybody can play any position”, he said. “If the coach asks us to plug in at any position, we know it well enough because it is concepts, the way we scheme things and the way we name things. The concepts just tell you what to do so we are all connected into one big group that can do any position.”
