TORONTO – The biggest question facing Argos nation following their week 9 35-14 loss at the hands of the Calgary Stampeders, is unquestionably the health of starting QB Ricky Ray.

Off to a torrid start to the 2013 season, Ray boasts an off the charts 78.3 completion percentage with 1,824 yards and 15 touchdown passes.

With an official update coming from Argonauts Head Coach Scott Milanovich on Thursday, Argos nation will have to wait with bated breath to learn the status of their pivot heading into a crucial home-and-home series with division rival Montreal.

In the meantime, Argonauts General Manager Jim Barker was on TSN 1050 Radio on Wednesday morning (CLICK HERE TO LISTEN) and was asked by host Mike Richards about the status of the Argos’ man under centre.

“Nothing popped out, there was no dislocated shoulder, nothing with his collarbone, it is strictly (a muscle issue) in the back of his rotator cuff,” the Argonauts GM said candidly.

Barker also reiterated what Coach Milanovich said after the game which was that there was an attempt made to see if Ray could return to the game on Friday night.

“He went down and threw in the tunnel and Scott thought it was best to not do anything.”

Though he would not rule out a return for Ray in week 10 against Montreal, Barker was unable to provide a timetable for Ray’s return simply commenting, “…if I knew when he’d be back I’d tell you.”

The one advantage for the Double Blue is the extended break between games.  With no game until Tuesday, the team has a full five days off before beginning practice in preparation for the Alouettes.

The Argonauts get back to work Thursday, with five days before Montreal comes to Rogers Centre, looking to make up some ground in the East against a team whose starting QB status is also at the forefront for this week.
