MISSISSAUGA -The Toronto Argonauts Football Club announced today that it has acquired non-import RB Anthony Woodson and a 5th round pick in the 2014 CFL Draft from the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in exchange for OL Marc Parenteau and a 3rd round pick in the 2014 CFL draft.
Commented Argonauts General Manager Jim Barker, “Marc was an important part of our Grey Cup championship and we would like to thank him for his time as a member of our football club.”
Barker continued, “In Anthony, we are pleased to add a young, versatile running back who will add depth to our offence. I’ve watched him develop as a player since he was in high school and I am excited about his potential.”
A native of Calgary, Alberta, Woodson was drafted in the 4th round (29th overall) in the 2010 CFL Draft by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. In only 11 career CFL games, Woodson has accumulated 5 special teams tackles. Woodson played for the University of Calgary Dinos (CIS) and is second in the school’s record books for most rushing yards in a single season (1,183 in 2007).
Parenteau signed with Toronto before the 2012 season and played in 23 regular season games, two playoff games and the 100th Grey Cup championship.
