Argos Clinch Playoff Spot In 101st Grey Cup Playoffs, Set Cfl & Franchise Record

EDMONTON, AB – For the second straight season, the Toronto Argonauts are headed to the playoffs!
With a (34-22) win over the Edmonton Eskimos on Saturday night, the Boatmen booked their ticket to the 101st Grey Cup Playoffs with their ultimate goal of reaching the Grey Cup game in Regina on Sunday, November 24.

Now sitting at 9-4, the Double Blue can turn their attention to trying to finish on top of the East Division. By locking up the East they would earn a first round playoff bye and host of the Eastern Final game for the first time since 2007.
The win against Edmonton also saw the Argos set a CFL record as they won their fourth consecutive road win, a CFL first. They also set a new franchise record for consecutive road wins in a single season with six (6). The record was formerly held by the 1996 Argos who won five straight road games that season on their way to their first of back to back Grey Cup championships. That Argos team was guided by CFL great Doug Flutie, current Argos Special Teams Coordinator Mike O’Shea and Michael “Pinball” Clemons.
See if the Argos can extend their winning streak by coming down to Rogers Centre this Friday, October 4 when the Hamilton Tiger-Cats come to town. Sitting at 9-4, and behind the Argonauts in the East Division, this is the perfect time for the Boatmen to put some distance between themselves and the Ticats in the East.
