TORONTO – This Thursday, October 24 at 7:30 p.m. against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, the Toronto Argonauts will be battling a foe on the field as well as off the field as they take up the fight to end women’s cancer in their annual CFL Pink game in support of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation (CBCF). A win by the Double Blue will secure the Argos first place in the East Division for the first time since 2007.
This week’s edition of Argos Football, presented by Desjardins, will be both meaningful in the standings and personally for many of our Argos heroes. Jason “The Barber” Barnes lost his mother, Ann, to lung cancer in 2007. Khalif “Colossus” Mitchell lost his grandmother, Vanessa ‘Nessa’ Christie, to liver cancerand his great grandmother, Sally Mae Page,to lung cancer. O’Trena is themother of first year Argos DL Kiante Tripp,anda breast cancer survivor. Argonauts players will wear Pink Reebok gear during the game to accent their traditional Double Blue uniforms in an effort to support fundraising and awareness efforts in the fight to end women’s cancers.

The game, presented by the Toronto Sun, will be loaded with entertainment as celebrated Toronto singer and songwriter, and spokesperson for the Pink Mitten Campaign, Beverley Mahood will perform the national anthem. Then, the godfather of Canadian hip hop Maestro Fresh Wes will perform his timeless smash hit single “Let Your Backbone Slide” live on the field during halftime. Learn more here.
More than 100 members of the Argos Cheerleaders Alumni, dating back over four decades, will also take the field at halftime to show their support for Pink. The Ribbon of Strength, comprised of names submitted by Argos fans, players and staff of those who have been affected by women’s cancers, will appear on the in-stadium videoboards during the game.
The CBCF Pink Tour Bus will be stationed outside Gate 11 pre-game. Fans are invited to tour the bus and learn more about the services offered by CBCF, key information about breast cancer prevention and detection, and support available for breast cancer survivors. Joining the bus at Gate 11 will be Argos interactive inflatables, games and sausages provided by Marc Angelo Foods.
The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation – Ontario Region – will be the recipient of the night’s 50/50 proceeds, and the CBCF will be on the concourse accepting donations, selling pink items and providing valuable information to educate fans about breast cancer research and prevention.
Newest inductee to the Canadian Football Hall of Fame, lineman and legendary Argonauts player Dan Ferrone,will be in attendance at the game and Toronto fans will have their first opportunity to celebrate his achievement since the induction ceremony.
The Argonauts will again celebrate their Champion of Change initiative as part of the award-winning Huddle Up Bullying Prevention Program, presented by Tim Hortons. At each home game, the Argos recognize student champions who make a difference in their school or community through acts of kindness, tolerance, and respect for others.
Fans are invited to join Argos players and members of the Argos Cheerleaders, presented by the Toronto Sun, at the Official Post-Game Party at Shoeless Joe’s Sports Grill at 276 King Street West, for special food and drink deals!
A portion of tickets purchased for this game via argonauts.ca/groups, using the promo code ARGOSPINK, will be donated back to the CBCF, as will proceeds from the sale of Pink Reebok merchandise which will be available in the Jays Shop at Gate 5 on game day.
