TORONTO – The Toronto Argonauts Football Club is pleased to announce that York University will be the site of the club’s 2014 CFL Training Camp.
Commented Toronto Argonauts Executive Chairman & CEO, Chris Rudge, “We look forward to this partnership with York University to host our 2014 Training Camp. In addition to a turf field, our players will have access to world class sports training facilities as well as living quarters on campus. We would also like to thank our friends at the University of Toronto Mississauga, which has been our home for the past 18 years, for their many years of support.”
Commented York University President and Vice Chancellor, Mamdouh Shoukri, “We are thrilled the Toronto Argonauts have selected York as the location for their training camp this summer. We are proud to host these professional football players at our state-of-the art facility and look forward to welcoming them to campus in May.”
Toronto Argonauts practices during Training Camp will be held at York Stadium and players will have access to many of the same facilities used by some of Canada’s best high performance athletes. A complete 2014 Training Camp schedule will be distributed to the media in May. CFL rookie players and quarterbacks will be on the field starting Wednesday, May 28, and CFL veteran players will participate in their first practice on Sunday, June 1.

York University alumni are dotted throughout the Argonauts’ history books. The most recent examples include current player Andre Durie who starred at York, as well as recently retired RB Jeff Johnson. Former Argonauts quarterback, and 1952 Grey Cup winner, Nobby Wirkowski was a founder of York’s football program in 1967 and became the team’s first head coach.
