TORONTO – The Toronto Argonauts Football Club is pleased to announce that it has signed non-import OL Thomas Griffiths, a Richmond Hill, Ontario native, import QB Casey Pachall, import DB Andre Martin and import LB Nicholas Williams.
Offensive lineman Thomas Griffiths, who hails from Richmond Hill, Ontario, is staying close to home. He joins the Argonauts after five seasons with the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks (2009-13) where he played primarily on the defensive line. During his college career, he totalled 26 tackles, 6.5 quarterback sacks, and two defended passes in 19 games. As a senior in 2013, Griffiths was named Defensive Player of the Game after a win against Western University.
Casey Pachall joins the Argos after a 5-year college career as a member of the Texan Christian University Horned Frogs (2009-13). During his tenure at TCU, Pachall totalled 5,415 passing yards and 42 touchdowns in 32 career games, becoming TCU’s all-time leader in completion percentage (62.9). As a junior, he set the TCU single-season record for completions (228) and passing yards (2,921), and was named the Walter Camp National Player of the Week once.
DB Andre Martin was most recently with the St. Louis Rams (NFL). Prior to that, he played for North Dakota State University (2012) after spending three seasons with the University of Northern Iowa (2009-2011). As a sophomore in 2010, he ranked third on the team in tackles with 77 and had 5 interceptions for 66 yards and 1 touchdown. He earned Conference Defensive Player of the Week once.
LB Nicholas Williams spent three seasons at the University of North Alabama (2011-13) and three seasons at the University of Georgia (2008-10) before joining the Boatmen. He enjoyed his best season as a senior, while at North Alabama, where he tallied 61 total tackles (41 DT, 21 STT), 5 tackles for loss, 2 interceptions, 2 defended passes and 1 quarterback sack in 13 games. A two-time Athletic Director’s Honour Roll recipient (2009, 2010), Williams also earned the Coffee County Hustle Award (2009) in his freshman year.
The Toronto Argonauts also announced today that non-import OL Kyle Koch has retired, and import DB/LB Demetrice Morley has been released.
