Argonauts Take On Blue Bombers At Home Tuesday Night!

TORONTO – The Toronto Argonauts return home this Tuesday, August 12 at 7:30 p.m. to battle the Winnipeg Blue Bombers at Rogers Centre.
 
The Argonauts are coming off an important win against East Division rival Montreal. Star QB Ricky Ray has passed for almost 1,700 yards on the season – which is among the league leaders – and he is nearing 50,000 career passing yards. Toronto boasts a number of emerging first year players this season including team sack leader DE Tristan Okpalaugo who already has four QB sacks, and RB Steve Slaton who scored two majors against the Alouettes. Regaining CFL Special Teams Player of the Month K/P Swayze Waters remains among the league leaders in field goal percentage and punting average.
 
Argonauts fans will welcome back Mike O’Shea to Toronto for the first time as head coach of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. O’Shea played 205 regular season games in Double Blue and won four Grey Cup championships in Toronto as both a player and coach (1996, 1997, 2004 and 2012).

 
It will be TORONTO 2015 Pan Am/Parapan Am Games night at the stadium and the first 10,000 fans will receive TORONTO 2015 branded noise makers. Canadian Olympian and TORONTO 2015 supporter, Martin Reader will participate in the ceremonial pre-game coin toss. Halftime will feature the Mascot Challenge including official Games mascot, PACHI, as well as Jason the Argonaut and other Toronto sports mascots.
 
International recording artist and multiple Juno award winner Jully Black will be performing the national anthem while 30 excited members of Jr. Cheer will be back to show off their dance moves during halftime. The Children’s Peace Theatre will be the beneficiary of proceeds from this week’s 50/50 draw.
 
Fans will want to be at Tuesday’s game when the Argonauts will officially reveal their new CFL Signature Uniform during the first half of the game. Replica Signature jerseys will be available to purchase for the first time at the JaysShop during the game and at ArgosShop.ca following the game. Fans that pick one up on Tuesday can have theirs game-ready for the team’s next home game on Sunday, August 17 against the BC Lions when the Double Blue will wear their innovative uniforms for the first time.
 
For the past three years, The Rotary Club of TorontoandToronto Argonauts Community Champion Scholarship has recognized one student from a Toronto school who not only demonstrates financial need but high academic achievement and a steadfast commitment to their community. This year’s recipient, John Chen, will be presented with a cheque on the field for his full university tuition. As part of the presentation, The Rotary Club of Toronto President, Steve Smith, will perform the ceremonial kickoff.
