The Toronto Argonauts earned their first victory of the 2025 season with a 29–16 win over the Ottawa Redblacks on Saturday night. It was a statement game for the Double Blue, led by an electric defensive performance that swung the momentum early and never looked back.
Derek Slywka was the hero of the night, scoring two touchdowns for Toronto’s defence and special teams. He scooped up a fumble in the red zone to score in the second quarter, then followed it up with a thrilling 120-yard return off a blocked field goal just before halftime.
With this win, the Argos move to 1–3 on the season as they prepare to return home to BMO Field to face the Hamilton Tiger-Cats next Friday.
